In CS2, there’s a particularly unpleasant feature where the shadows of opponents from the spotlight are not displayed on low shadow settings. Truthfully, this is fundamentally incorrect for a competitive game, however, this unfairness can be changed with just a couple of actions.
So, all you need to do is open a text document and change one value. We’ll say in advance that you definitely won’t get banned for this, as it’s just a settings preset that’s already in the game, but for some reason, it was set up very foolishly.
It’s important to note that before any manipulations, you need to go into the video settings and set the shadow settings to low, then restart the game.
So, navigate to the path Steam\userdata\ID\730\local\cfg\cs2_video.txt — that is, this file should be searched for in the Steam folder, not in the game folder.
Open the cs2_video.txt file, then find “setting.lb_enable_shadow_casting” (it’s easiest to use the Ctrl + F combination for search). After that, set the parameter to 1.
As a result, you won’t lose performance, but the main advantages of high shadow settings are preserved, namely the visibility of the opponent’s shadows.
It’s also important not to change these settings, as all the actions will be reset, and you will need to edit the file again.
