More than a year after the game’s release, developers finally added the ability to change the hand that holds the weapon. Before this, the lack of this feature caused incredible irritation among many players, as it seemed so simple – why wouldn’t Valve add this setting to the game? Nevertheless, it has finally happened!
In order to change the hand to the left in CS2, you need to find the “Preferred ViewModel Left/Right Handedness” setting in the game options. As soon as you open the game, click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the screen. After that, proceed to the relevant section.
Find the aforementioned option “Preferred ViewModel Left/Right Handedness” and accordingly set it to the left hand or leave it as the right hand, as these are the default settings.
To switch hands on the map without entering the settings, you need to set a bind on a key that is convenient for you. To do this, click on the “GO TO SWITCH HAND KEY BINDING” button and you will be redirected to the keyboard layout settings. In my case, it’s the alt key, as it’s convenient to use with the thumb.
Additionally, you can use a bind by opening the console and entering the command bind h switchhands
, where h
is the key that will be used to switch hands.
Switching hands in CS2 is a bit different from what we are used to in CS:GO, as each press of the bind will draw your weapon, which negates the main idea of convenient aiming depending on the angle or position.
